RSPCA Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, located in Nantwich, Cheshire, is one of the UK’s busiest and most versatile wildlife rehabilitation hospitals. Founded in 1993 on land bequeathed by local animal advocate Cynthia Zur Nedden, the centre has grown into a vital hub for wildlife care across the Midlands, North Wales, and the North West of England.

While Stapeley Grange treats over 6,000 animals annually, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, its seal rehabilitation programme has become a standout feature. Each year, the centre admits dozens of orphaned or injured common and grey seal pups, many rescued by British Divers Marine Life Rescue from beaches along the Yorkshire and North Wales coasts. These pups often arrive underweight, dehydrated, or suffering from respiratory infections and wounds.

Staff tube-feed pups in their early days, monitor their progress in isolation units, and prepare them for transfer to deep-water pools at East Winch or the Welsh Mountain Zoo, where they complete their rehabilitation before release.

Beyond seal care, Stapeley Grange operates a Community Education Hub, offering immersive animal welfare learning for schools and youth groups. Though not open to the public for tours, the centre hosts seasonal events and maintains a relocated RHS garden for visitors during spring and summer.
