Fundación Mundo Marino was established one year after the opening of the Mundo Marino marine park and zoo in San Clemente del Tuyú, Argentina, to serve as its dedicated conservation and rehabilitation arm. The foundation plays a vital role in marine wildlife protection through its Centro de Rescate y Rehabilitación de Fauna Marina, a specialized facility equipped to care for stranded, injured, or sick animals including penguins, sea turtles, dolphins, sea lions, and even whales. Over the years, the center has treated thousands of animals, often responding to cases of pollution, entanglement, and habitat disruption.

Beyond rescue operations, the foundation is deeply involved in environmental education, scientific research, and community outreach. Their programs have reached over two million children, and their team has contributed to more than 250 research projects. They also conduct beach monitoring across thousands of kilometers annually and promote sustainable practices like plastic recycling, composting, and tree planting.
