CRRIFS

Founded by marine biologist Dr. Elsa Coria Galindo, CRRIFS is a leading wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center on Mexico’s Pacific coast. While best known for its work with endangered sea turtles, the center also plays a vital role in the rescue and care of entangled or injured sea lions, which are frequently affected by ghost nets and other marine debris.

CRRIFS operates a specialized disentanglement program for pinnipeds, offering veterinary care and rehabilitation with the goal of safe release. The facility is equipped to handle a range of marine and coastal species, and its team is trained in both emergency response and long-term recovery.

Beyond rescue work, CRRIFS runs public education campaigns, community engagement initiatives, and scientific research projects focused on improving treatment protocols and understanding threats to marine wildlife. Their efforts have helped raise awareness across the region and contributed to broader conservation strategies in Mexico.
