Founded in 1998, the California Wildlife Center (CWC) is a hospital up in the hills of Calabasas, California. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife, including marine mammals like seals and sea lions, back into their natural habitats.Β

One of the standout features of CWC is its Marine Mammal Rescue Team, which responds to stranded seals and sea lions along the Southern California coast. In recent years, they’ve treated hundreds of patients, including Northern elephant Seal pups, which are rehabilitated and released in protected areas like Santa Rosa Island. Their marine facility was built in response in 2013, and continues to play a key role in addressing ecological challenges affecting seal populations.

CWC operates with a strong focus on education and conservation, offering outreach programs and volunteer opportunities to engage the public in wildlife protection.
