This small, but dedicated facility is a privately run seal rescue center located in Scotland. Founded in November 2022 by veterinary nurse and marine mammal advocate Clare Boardman and her husband Phil, the center quickly became a vital lifeline for seal pups along the northern Scottish coastline. Their first patient arrived just a week after opening, and since then, they’ve cared for dozens of harbor and grey seals.

What sets Caithness apart is its round-the-clock care and community-driven spirit. With a team of dedicated volunteers, the center operates 24/7, feeding pups and providing veterinary care for injuries ranging from dog bites to storm-related trauma. They’re also publishing research papers and sharing their knowledge about seal rehabilitation and health, hightlighting their expertise with marine mammals, which is also visible in their high success rate in rehabbing seals, which are released in Brough Bay.
