Founded in 2017, L’Association Conservation Mammifères et Oiseaux Marins de Bretagne (ACMOM) brings together four long-standing partners -Océanopolis (which has been working on seal rescue much longer), Bretagne Vivante, the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO), and the Groupe Mammalogique Breton (GMB) – to protect marine wildlife in Brittany. Operating from Océanopolis, Brittany’s renowned ocean museum in Brest, ACMOM coordinates seal rescue and rehabilitation efforts, monitors marine mammal strandings, and conducts research and public outreach.

Each year, the center cares for around 20–50 young grey and harbor seals found stranded along the French coast. ACMOM is also a regional coordinator for the Réseau National Échouages, responding to hundreds of marine mammal strandings annually. Their work includes veterinary care, necropsies, and data collection to support conservation science. In addition to seals, they assist seabirds in distress and run public education campaigns to raise awareness about marine ecosystems.
